The Nebraska State Fair once again will be filled with thrilling, mud-slinging action with the organization of dirt attractions into the Stampede Series to open the Fair and the Twisted Chrome Series presented by Motoplex of Norfolk to bring the Fair to a close.
During opening weekend, the Stampede Series will feature back-to-back nights of bull action to kick off the State Fair. The Ultimate Bullriding Tour presented by Grand Kubota will compete Friday, Aug. 23, followed by the Ultimate Bullfighters Tour, Saturday, Aug. 24. Both events start at 7 p.m. in the U.S. Foods Outdoor Arena.
The engines will be revving to bring the action the second weekend of the fair with the Twisted Chrome Series presented by Motoplex of Norfolk. The Nebraska Bush Pullers Truck and Tractor Pull brings the thunder Sunday, September 1, starting at 5 p.m. The Nebraska State Fair Demolition Derby will shake and rattle on Labor Day, Monday, September 2, starting at 2 p.m. Both events are in the newly created State Fair Motorsports Park.
“We love having these two sets of high-adrenaline events to help declare the opening and closing weekend of the 2024 Nebraska State Fair,” said Jaime Parr, executive director of the Nebraska State Fair. “The Stampede Series bull events are awe-inspiring and the Twisted Chrome Series will get your heart racing along with the high RPMs.”
Often called the most dangerous eight seconds in sports, bull riding challenges some of America’s toughest cowboys to stay aboard 2,000 pounds of bucking bull for eight seconds or receive a no-score. Tickets are $65 for VIP; $35, arena side; and $25, general admission. Advance tickets include gate admission.
Fairgoers who’ve witnessed the Ultimate Bullfighters Tour presented by Grand Kubota, know the thrills in store. In this freestyle event, bullfighters have 60 seconds to score points by performing dangerous stunts as close to the bull as possible without getting hit. The animals are not harmed, unlike in traditional bullfighting. Tickets are $65 for VIP; $35, arena side; and $25, general admission. Advance tickets include gate admission.
The Truck and Tractor Pull will be the first event in the new State Fair Motorsports Park. The venue has been moved out of the concert field area.
Nebraska Bush Pullers was started in 1981. From the captivating display of multi-engine modified tractors to the exhilarating presence of the unlimited super stock tractors, the events offer a diverse and thrilling experience for enthusiasts of all kinds. Tickets are $25 for adults; $15 for children; ages 5 and under are free. Advance tickets include gate admission.
The Nebraska Demolition Derby Championship concludes the State Fair, and the 10 events that make up the point series beginning in June. Class events include Limited Weld, Bone Stock and Old School. Tickets are $33, pit; $25, adults; $12, children; ages 5 and under are free. Advance tickets include gate admission.
With the theme, All Roads Lead to Fun, the 2024 Nebraska State Fair is August 23 through September 2 at Fonner Park in Grand Island. The fair has drawn more than 4 million visitors to its home in Grand Island since 2010.
