It's important to be prepared and plan ahead when visiting the Nebraska State Fair. Below are some of the frequently asked questions (FAQ's) about the State Fair and general information you might want to know before attending.

Parking/Vehicle Assistance

Is there a charge for parking?

The Nebraska State Fair offers free parking. The west parking lot and main entrance on State Fair Boulevard can be accessed from South Locust Street. The east parking lot can be accessed from Stuhr Road. Bus parking will be available on the North side of the grounds, off of Fonner Park Road. Vendors and livestock exhibitors will be directed to the appropriate parking in their welcome packets that they will receive prior to the fair.

Do you offer an off-site shuttle service to the fair?

The Nebraska State Fair offers three off-site parking locations throughout Grand Island, along with shuttle service (presented by Arrow Stage Lines) to and from the fairgrounds. At the fairgrounds, buses load and unload at the north gate into the Family Fun Zone. At the off-site shuttle locations, NSF signage will designate the pick-up location.

What happens if my car is towed?

The NSF relocates all involuntarily towed vehicles to an on-site location. Vehicles towed from areas marked with "no parking" signage will be assessed a $10 towing fee. Fees must be paid upon retrieval of the vehicle. Vehicles towed from areas that do not have "no parking" signage, will not be assessed a fee.

Do you have a service that will help me if my car battery is dead, I have a flat tire, or locked my keys in my car?

The NSF has an on-site towing service that provides free assistance with unlock services, dead batteries, or tire changes. Towed vehicles will be at the expense of the vehicle owner.

On-grounds Transportation

Do you have any on-grounds transportation?

There is Courtesy transportation (presented by Aurora Co-op), via tractor-drawn shuttles, provided on the fairgrounds. Trams on the fairgrounds are free. Tram stops are designated with signage and also identified on the NSF grounds map distributed at all the gates.

Do you have scooter, wheelchair, stroller or wagon rentals?

You can rent a scooter, wheelchair, stroller or wagon from HomeTown Mobility of Merrill, IA. Reservations are encouraged and can be made my calling 1-877-928-5388 from 9am-5pm (Monday-Friday) and on weekends during the fair ($5 processing fee will be applied). Or, save $5 processing fee by reserving online at www.htmia.com. Reservations will ONLY be accepted for full day Scooter and Wheelchair rentals. Reservations need to be made 24 hours in advance. Security deposit of a driver's license is required for all rentals. Cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance to receive a full refund, less a $5 cancellation fee per rental unit. If you don't make a reservation you can always stop by HomeTown Mobility's rental location at the Main Gate and North Entrance. Wheelchairs and scooters for walk-up customers are on a first come first serve basis.

Services

Are there ATMs on the fairgrounds?

Since, the Nebraska State Fair doesn't accept checks, ready cash may be obtained from ATMs located throughout the fairgrounds. ATMs are marked on the NSF map which is also available in the Gatebook and daily schedules distributed at the main gates. Do you accept Credit Cards as payment?

Visa and MasterCard are accepted at each gate for admission. At this time, etix.com accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express credit or debit cards for your purchases. Many of our vendors and exhibitors accept credit cards for purchases on-site. However, at the discretion of the vendor/exhibitor, not all of these options may be available.

What should I do if I lose something?

Lost and Found, during the NSF, is located at the Welcome Center on State Fair Boulevard. Following the Fair, items will be transferred to the NSF Administration Office. Items will be kept until December 31, following the Fair, and then be donated to charitable organizations.

*The NSF is not responsible for lost or stolen articles in cars or on the person attending the NSF.

Do you provide security on the fairgrounds?

Nebraska State Patrol and Double Locked Security provide 24 hour security on the NSF fairgrounds. Both agencies maintain offices on the fairgrounds. Nebraska State Patrol Officers are in uniform. Double Locked Security Officers wear grey shirts labeled "Security."

My medicine needs to stay cooled, can I bring it in a cooler?

If you have a medical condition that requires your medication to stay cool, coolers are permitted. The NSF does not provide cooler storage.

Are there diaper changing facilities on the grounds?

There are diaper changing facilities located in some of the restrooms in the 4-H/FFA/Commercial Building, Welcome Center, Pinnacle Bank Exhibition Building, Sheep Barn, Five Points Bank Arena, Cattle Barn and Swine Barn.

Do you provide a mom's nursing lounge?

Presented by CHI Health St. Francis Medical Center, the Mom's Nursing Lounge is located near the Welcome Center. The Mom's Nursing Lounge offers a private, climate controlled area for moms and their babies. Educational information will also be available.

What should I do if I become separated from my child?

Report lost persons to any State Fair staff, volunteer, State Patrol Officer or security officer. The NSF suggests establishing the Welcome Center as a meeting place, should your party get separated. To help ensure your child's safety, the NSF offers FREE child identification wristbands at the Welcome Center and 1868 Foundation Gift Shop. The wristbands will help assist us in reuniting you with your child.
