FAQ's

Does our band have to perform at the performance stops?

No, it's your choice as the band teacher to decide if your band wants to perform at the performance stops.

Can we change our route preference?

No, once the registration process has closed, we aren't able to accommodate route changes. You can however change your mind on playing at the performance stops. We just ask that you communicate any performance stop changes to your State Fair guide.

What if it's raining the day we come to perform?

If it happens to rain on your performance day, you have the option to play in the rain or not. We do NOT have an indoor performance location. The Marching Band Exhibition will continue as scheduled rain or shine. We can, however reschedule to a later performance time if you do not wish to perform in the rain. In case of inclement weather, stipends will only be made if band is on-site, at the place of performance, and ready to perform.

Do you provide water for the band director and members?

The Nebraska State Fair does not provide water or water bottles to band directors and members. We do however encourage you to bring your own water bottles and fill them up around the fairgrounds.

What happens if we arrive late?

If your band arrives late to the fair, we will try our best to squeeze you in. However, no guarantees can be made. We recommend you arrive at least an hour and fifteen minutes prior to your performance. This will allow you time to park, unload, warm-up, and stage. We ask that you arrive in the staging area 30 minutes prior to your performance time.

How can parents find our band on the fairgrounds?

We post each bands scheduled performance time in our program guide/daily sheets (which are handed out at the gates) and on our website. We also announce the daily bands on our Facebook page. We recommend that you tell parents to be at our Main Intersection 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time, to see you perform, as well as, provide them with a map of your route and stops you plan to make. This way, they are able to follow you through the fairgrounds. The Nebraska State Fair is not responsible for informing parents/spectators of your route and performance locations.

Where should parents park?

Parents/spectators should all park in our general parking. Only school buses and vans hauling equipment that are preregistered will be allowed to park in the bus parking lot.

Do parents coming to watch their child receive free admission?

All parents/spectators will need to pay for their gate admission. Once you know what day you're marching, we'd encourage you to provide the parents that information, so they can take advantage of our advanced gate admission. We'd also suggest that they take a look at our website for discounted days!
