Grand Island, NE - The excitement and anticipation of the 2010 Nebraska State Fair just got more thrilling as Phil Vassar joins the 2010 line up. His unbounded energy and limitless talent have proven him, again and again, as one of Nashville's most prolific and versatile stars. Phil Vassar opens this year's Entertainment Series at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Heartland Events Center. The show is free with a paid gate admission.
His resume boasts six #1 hits for country artists including Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina, and Collin Raye and three more as an artist in his own right. He's been named ASCAP Songwriter of the Year twice and has taken top honors from the Academy of Country Music, Billboard and MusicRow. Now releasing his sixth album, Traveling Circus, Vassar approaches his uniquely piano-based rhythm and blues-infused, infectiously buoyant brand of country music from back-to-basics school of thought.
Phil Vassar has been called "one of country's most appealing voices" by the New York Times and the Millwaukee Journal Sentinel suggests "the energy level at a Vassar show tops anything else that Music City has to offer."
The 2010 Nebraska State Fair Entertainment Series is presented by the Nebraska Lottery and co-sponsored by Bristol Windows and US Cellular. Additions to the 2010 Entertainment Series will be released soon.
It's a Grand Affair! The 141st edition of the Nebraska State Fair opens Friday, August 21 and runs through Monday, September 6, 2010 at Fonner Park in Grand Island, NE. For more information on the Nebraska State Fair, visit www.statefair.org.
