HEART COMPLETES THE 2010 NEBRASKA STATE FAIR ENTERTAINMENT SERIES
Heart will take the stage on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 8:00 p.m., at the Heartland Events Center.  Tickets will be $15 plus gate admission and standard Ticketmaster fees.  Tickets will go on sale Monday, July 26 at 8:00 a.m. and will be available at the Heartland Events Center Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations as well as Ticketmaster.com

The Nebraska State Fair Announces Annual Veterans Day Celebration

Veterans Day on Friday, September 3, 2010, will provide a day of entertainment including a Parade of Colors and more. The celebration is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Heartland Events Center.

2010 Nebraska State Fair Announces Older Nebraskans Festival

The Older Nebraskans Festival on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 will provide a day of entertainment along with health, wellness, and informational exhibits. The festival is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Heartland Events Center.The exhibits will be available from 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. and fair gate admission is only $2.

Mel Tillis to Perform at Older Nebraskans Festival During 2010 NE State Fair

Country music legend, Mel Tillis will be performing for the Older Nebraskans Festival audience at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 in the Heartland Events Center. The show is free with a paid gate admission to the Fair.

Josh Turner Joins the 2010 Nebraska State Fair Entertainment Series

Josh Turner, the country singer-songwriter with a deep, soulful voice has joined the 2010 Nebraska State Fair Entertainment Series. His performance begins at 8:00p.m. on Labor Day, Monday, September 6, 2010 at the Heartland Events Center. The show is free with a paid gate admission.

Join the Nebraska State Fair Board and Staff at Media Day on June 11, 2010 in conjunction with our Board Meeting and Grounds Dedication. The Media day will be held at the fairgrounds at the Bossleman Conference Center at Fonner Park from 10 a.m. - 12 noon.

LIFEHOUSE ADDED TO THE 2010 NEBRASKA STATE FAIR ENTERTAINMENT SERIES

Lifehouse, radio–ready song craftsmen and raucous live rock and roll band is the latest addition to the 2010 Nebraska State Fair Entertainment Series. They will be on stage at the Heartland Events Center on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. The show is free with a paid gate admission.

Martina McBride to Perform Labor Day Weekend at 2010 Nebraska State Fair

The concert begins at 8:00p.m. on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at the Heartland Events Center. Tickets are $25 plus gate admission to the Fair and standard Ticketmaster fees. Tickets will be available mid-June.

Nebraska State Fair Seeks Parade Grand Marshall Nominations
Grand Marshals ride in the Grand Marshal vehicle at the head of the daily parade receive recognition on the website, 10 complimentary gate passes and reception in their honor. Individuals or couples with county fair affiliations are eligible for nomination and selections are based on the nominee's contributions to both their county and State Fair.

The Nebraska State Fair and Nebraska Farm Bureau will again recognize five outstanding farm and ranch families as the Ag Family of the Day program returns to the 2010 State Fair. Selected families will be honored on each of the Fair's weekends as well as Labor Day.

Nebraska State Fair Announces Logo and Theme for 2010
The Nebraska State Fair announces the official theme of the 2010 Nebraska State Fair and has revealed the new logo for the Fair.  The “It’s a Grand Affair” theme and logo were created to commemorate the start of the new tenure in Grand Island as well as still recognizing Nebraska’s strong history and traditions.

As the Nebraska State Fair continues to get ready for the 2010 Nebraska State Fair a new Public Relations and Marketing Director has been hired.  Jana Hafer of Martell, NE assumed the role and has joined the staff in the Grand Island office.

A lot of items can accumulate after 109 years in the same location. On Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1, State Fair Park will clean house with an auction held by Ford & Ford Inc. Auctioneers.

2009 Nebraska State Fair Experiences Attendance Increase For Sixth Consecutive Year
The 140th edition of the Nebraska State Fair came to a close yesterday after 367,203 people came through its gates over an eleven day run. Attendance was up from 309,137 in 2008, an 18.78% increase.

Fair Parade Has It All

It started at noon Monday with a Knights of Columbus color guard in their distinctive plumed hats and colorful capes. By parade’s end an hour later, fairgoers at the Nebraska State Fair had seen 98 antique tractors, the Stepping Saints drill team from Omaha, the University of Nebraska yell squad, the Budweiser Clydesdales, the North Platte Chamber of Commerce float, fire-spitting hot air balloon gondolas, the 4-H mascot, animals from the petting zoo, and a magician, snake handler and other fair favorites.

Ham Radio Keeps Watch

Lincoln Amateur Radio Club volunteers work with the fair’s security detail and Nebraska State Patrol to find lost people and lost cars and assist in case of a medical emergency, she said. They work in shifts. By Sunday night, 85 volunteers had worked a total of 1,728 volunteer hours, Leavitt said. Those who patrol on bicycle had ridden 877 miles.

Rabbits Rule

The rabbit show took place at the Small Animal Pavilion. It had a showmanship category for students and two categories for rabbits: fancy and commercial. Katie Larson of Lincoln, assistant superintendent of the show, said the show had about 250 entries. The pavilion was a cacophony of sounds Monday, not from the rabbits, but from the chickens, ducks and geese that were housed there as well.
