HEART COMPLETES THE 2010 NEBRASKA STATE FAIR ENTERTAINMENT SERIES
Heart will take the stage on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 8:00 p.m., at the Heartland Events Center. Tickets will be $15 plus gate admission and standard Ticketmaster fees. Tickets will go on sale Monday, July 26 at 8:00 a.m. and will be available at the Heartland Events Center Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations as well as Ticketmaster.com |

2010 Nebraska State Fair Announces Older Nebraskans Festival

Fair Parade Has It All
It started at noon Monday with a Knights of Columbus color guard in their distinctive plumed hats and colorful capes. By parade’s end an hour later, fairgoers at the Nebraska State Fair had seen 98 antique tractors, the Stepping Saints drill team from Omaha, the University of Nebraska yell squad, the Budweiser Clydesdales, the North Platte Chamber of Commerce float, fire-spitting hot air balloon gondolas, the 4-H mascot, animals from the petting zoo, and a magician, snake handler and other fair favorites. |

Ham Radio Keeps Watch
Lincoln Amateur Radio Club volunteers work with the fair’s security detail and Nebraska State Patrol to find lost people and lost cars and assist in case of a medical emergency, she said. They work in shifts. By Sunday night, 85 volunteers had worked a total of 1,728 volunteer hours, Leavitt said. Those who patrol on bicycle had ridden 877 miles. |

Rabbits Rule
The rabbit show took place at the Small Animal Pavilion. It had a showmanship category for students and two categories for rabbits: fancy and commercial. Katie Larson of Lincoln, assistant superintendent of the show, said the show had about 250 entries. The pavilion was a cacophony of sounds Monday, not from the rabbits, but from the chickens, ducks and geese that were housed there as well. |
