A flash mob is a group of people who assemble in a public place, perform for a short time, and then disperse. Performances can consist of dancing, singing, acting, freezing, or any other type of entertainment.

Fireworks

Friday, August 26 9:30pm

Kidz Zone

Bright, beautiful balls of fire will be bursting on opening day, Friday, August 26 at 9:30 p.m. View the fireworks through out the fairgrounds but the best location to view is Kidz Zone. Lantis Fireworks Franchising Inc. will be providing the firework entertainment! Lantis Fireworks has the advantage of the Lantis family's decades of experience in creating & sourcing the most spectacular products available today.

  • Miss America, Teresa Scanlan: The Past 223 Days

  • Teresa Scanlan was crowned Miss America 2011 on January 15, 2011 at the 90th Anniversary of the Miss America Pageant on ABC. Since her crowning she has been traveling the country appearing on numerous national and local television programs, making corporate appearances, and talking about MAO’s national platform, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and her personal platform of Eating Disorders: A Generation at Risk.

As the youngest Miss America in 78 years, Teresa is showing the country she is a leader and a role model for youth today. Teresa was home-schooled until her junior year of high school, before attending Gering High School for half of her junior year. She graduated early from Scottsbluff High School in the spring of 2010 after taking a double load of classes.

  • A local, preliminary pageant to the MIss Nebraska and the MIss America Pageants open to women between the ages of 17 and 24. The pageant includes the following areas of compeition: Interview, On-Stage Question, Evening Wear, Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit and Talent.

  • Nebraska's Largest Classroom
    Monday, August 29, 2011 & Tuesday, August 30, 2011
    Located throughout the fairgrounds

    Nebraska's Largest Classroom is a self-guided field trip where students and teachers have the opportunity to enjoy hundreds of exhibits, view entertainment at every turn, and learn about Nebraska. Public and home schools are invited to participate in Nebraska's Largest Classroom and must pre-register. Admission is FREE for K-6th grade students, teachers, sponsors, and bus drivers. Registration Forms are due by April 30, 2011.

    The Nebraska State Fair offers a lunch program for Nebraska's Largest Classroom participants. Lunch will be available from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Each lunch costs $2 and includes a hot dog, bag of chips, fruit, dessert, and beverage. Advance registration for the lunch program is required. Lunch registrations will not be accepted the day of Nebraska's Largest Classroom.

Gate admission to the Fair not included

Wristband required, first come/first serve basis.

Crystal Gayle, will perform at 11:00a.m. and 3:00p.m. in the Heartland Event Center. The concert is FREE with paid gate admission. Wristbands are required for entry into the concert and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Wristbands will be available and valid ONLY on August 31, 2011. Wristband distribution will begin at 8:00a.m. Visit the Heartland Event Center Box Office the day of the concert to obtain a wristband. There is a limit of 2 wristbands per person.

Wristbands are divided into four entry times per concert:

11:00a.m. Crystal Gayle Concert entry times are 9:00a.m., 9:30a.m., 10:00a.m., 10:30a.m.

3:00p.m. Crystal Gayle Concert entry times are 1:00p.m., 1:30p.m., 2:00p.m., 2:30p.m.

All wristbands must be secured on the wrist for entry into the concert. You will only be permitted to enter AFTER the specified entry time on your wristband. Wristbands guarantee adimission but not neccesarily a seat.

*Entry times are subject to change pending artist approval.

Our mounted drill team is performing a drill this year which pays tribute to our men and women currently serving in the Armed Forces and to all veterans.  Our drill manuevers are performed to the music associated to each branch of the service and instead of our usual trademark "pink spur" flags our riders are carrying American Flags.

All parade entries please report to the check in booth in the Heartland Events Center Foyer at 12:00 p.m.

      All Veterans, Auxiliary members, Color Guards, marching units, floats, and vehicles are invited to participate in the Parade of Colors.

      You are encouraged to wear your uniform or any part of your uniform.
