Miss Heartland 2013
I have lived in the small town of Chester, Nebraska my whole life. Throughout my high schools years, I played softball, volleyball, and ran track. I also really loved to be involved in my schools FCCLA chapter and student council. I am also a proud Girl Scout for 13 years and earned my Gold Award this past year. The Gold Award is the highest award a girl scout can receive and I was honored to earn it. I also really enjoy playing the piano and organ for my church.
As Miss Heartland 2013, I have had an amazing time talking to church groups, school organizations, and anyone else who would have me! I was involved with a school fundraiser last year called “Operation Airlift”. Our goal was to raise $500 so we could send a local veteran on the Korean Honor Flight. With the help of a loving community and the drive that high school students have, we raised over $4,200! With this money we paid the way for eight veterans to travel to Washington DC to see the war memorial that was built for them. I had the honor to travel on the honor flight as well as a guardian and it truly was an amazing experience that can be hard to put into words. This experience has really given me the drive for my platform, “United we Stand: Remembering Our Heroes”. I now help with Patriotic Productions and assist setting up with the Remembering Our Fallen Exhibit.
In May I graduated from Thayer Central High School. This fall I will start the new chapter of my life at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. My plan is to go through their Pre-Health Program, then transfer to the University of Nebraska Medical Center for Nursing.
