2009:

Grandstand events are now being booked for the Nebraska State Fair.  Please check back at a later time for new updates.

2008:

The following were some of the entertainment featured at the 2008 Nebraska State Fair:

Figure 8 Races

August 22, 2008 – Located in the Grandstand

Figure 8 racing is a form of racing that combines elements of oval racing, demolition derby, and road racing. Racing is done on a track shaped like an 8. The cars cross paths at the center of the 8, which is known as the "crossover." Because of this layout, crashes are inevitable. Figure 8 racing is a unique sport that requires strict attention to detail and timing to successfully navigate the crossover. Guests saw some of Nebraska’s finest drivers compete.  Doors opened at 6:00 pm and the show started at 7:00 pm.

Monster Truck Show

August 23 and 24, 2008 – Located in the Grandstand

Extreme Monster Truck Nationals brought some of the most world known trucks! Such trucks included: the Avenger (ten time Monster Jam World Finalist), the Equalizer (a two time world champion), Get R' Done (the Redneck Truck), Havoc (the star of a 2009 movie) and the Ghost Rider (the number one wheelie truck in the world). Guests saw the Green Mamba and its raw melting jet engine power! The three events at the show included: the wheelie contest, side-by-side drag racing and Monster Truck free-style. The show also had free-style motorcycle jumping. Over $25,000 in prize money was given to the winners; which was determined by audience applause! The show times were at 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm on August 23 and 5:00 pm on August 24.

The first 500 children, age 12 and under, received a 4” Monster Jeep Truck. Distribution of the toys began with the first show on August 23 and continued into the remaining shows until all 500 toys were given away.  The offer was good while supplies last.

Bull Riding Spectacular

August 25 and August 26, 2008 – Located at the Coliseum

Bull Riding is perhaps the most famed and dangerous of all rodeo sports. State Fair guests watched riders test their skills while riding a large bull and attempt to stay mounted for at least eight seconds! The riders held on for “dear life” with just a long braided rope. Guests, who wore pink on August 25 to celebrate "Tough Enough To Wear Pink" day, received a $2 discount of adult Grandstand tickets. A portion of the proceeds were donated to a local cancer center. Doors opened at 6:00 pm in the Coliseum for a 7:00 pm show on August 25 and August 26.

Car Races

August 29, 2008 – Located in the Grandstand

Guests saw IMCA Modified, IMCA Hobby Stock, IMCA Sport Mods, and NAPA Nebraska State Championship Hobby Stock races!   Doors opened at 5:00 pm with hot laps at 6:00 pm.  Racing began at 7:00 pm.

Tractor Pull

August 30 and August 31, 2008 – Located in the Grandstand

The engines roared with the Nebraska State Fair Tractor Pull.  The competition had tractors pull a heavy sled along a track and offered progressively greater resistance as the competition heated up! Although the vehicle produced a great deal of noise and smoke and threw dirt everywhere, they didn’t actually travel very far! Tractor Pull categories included Super Farm Tractors, Pro Stock Tractors, Modified 2WD Trucks and Modified Tractors. Doors opened at 2:00 pm with a 3:00 pm start time for both the August 30 and the August 31 shows.

Demolition Derby

September 1, 2008 – Located in the Grandstand

Demolition Derby is an action packed motor-sport where drivers compete by deliberately ramming their vehicles into one another. The last driver, whose vehicle was still operational, was awarded the victory.  Doors opened at 12:00 pm with a 1:00 pm start time.

Adults (Ages 13 & older): $7
Children (Ages 6 to 12 years old): $2
