The Nebraska State offers an exciting range of shows, grounds entertainment, interactive mobile tours, and attractions. State Fair guests will be treated to an array of new attractions along with popular returning attractions that will delight minds young and old.

The following were some of the family-friendly entertainment featured at the 2008 Nebraska State Fair:

Buttons The Clown
August 22 through September 1, 2008 – Strolling the fairgrounds
Buttons The Clown toured the grounds in his miniature 1932 Roadster and always had a pocketful of magic tricks for the children and an armful of love and joy for young and seniors alike.
Cavallo Equestrian Arts
August 22 through September 1, 2008 – Located in Kidz Zone
The Cavallo Equestrian Arts show was an enchanting extravaganza celebrating the age old fellowship of man and horse. An unrivaled cast of artists from around the world attempt death defying stunts and display dexterous feats. The show was a fully choreographed, theatrical experience that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
Charlie Stron, Stilt Walker
August 22 through September 1, 2008 – Strolling the fairgrounds
Charles Stron charmed State Fair guests in a variety of elaborate costumes from Uncle Sam to a hippie! While on stilts, he greeted guests and entertained with various comedy routines, juggling, and made balloon creations for the kids.
DockDogs 
August 22 through September 1, 2008 – Located in Marketplace North
Brought to you by Cabela’s, DockDogs is an independent governing and sanctioning body for regional, national, and international dock jumping performance sport for dogs. Attendees registered their dog to be in the competition.
Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show 
August 22 through September 1, 2008 – Located in Kidz Zone
Guests saw the nation’s best Frisbee catching dogs perform one-of-a-kind tricks and big air stunts, and a few lucky kids transformed into dogs and even performed with one of the Extreme Canines during the show.
Gooseman and The Puddle Jumpers 
August 22 through September 1, 2008 – Located in Heritage Village and Strolling The Grounds
Paul Messerschmidt and his expertly dressed geese could be seen strolling the fairgrounds all eleven days. The Gooseman and his family of geese entertained both children and adults in Heritage Village and throughout the grounds.
Great Safety Adventure
August 22 through September 1,2008 – Located on Play Is Good Street
The Great Safety Adventure is a mobile tour teaching children and their families about home safety with a fun and interactive approach. The tour focused on five of the leading home safety risk areas including: fire and burn, fall, choking, poison and drowning prevention. Children and their families had an adventure through the exhibit in which they learned how to identify safety hazards and how to alert an adult to correct the problem by calling “Code Red Rover, Grownup Come Over!” Children visited the living room, kitchen, backyard, bathroom and bedroom.
Haunted House
August 22 through September 1, 2008 – Located in the second level of Grandstand
The 11 Nights of Terror presented a live haunted house in the second level of the grandstand. It was open Monday through Friday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. On Saturdays, the haunted house opened from 2:00 to 10:00 pm. On Sundays and Labor Day, the haunted house opened from 2:00 to 9:00 pm. The price was $3 and did not include gate admission.

Hedrick’s Racing Pigs & Animal Petting Zoo
August 22 through September 1, 2008 – Located in Kidz Zone
Children of all ages got to pet and feed exotic animals. Plus, they were able to have camel & pony rides.
Jeep® Go Anywhere, Do Anything Tour
August 22 through August 24, 2008 – Located east of the Grandstand 
The Jeep® Go Anywhere, Do Anything tour was in motion and traveled across the country! State Fair guests experienced high-energy fun on the rock-climbing wall, Trail Rated® off-road driving course and more. Guests checked out Jeep’s expanded lineup of seven vehicles and experienced the Jeep lifestyle first-hand. Jim Victor - Cheese Sculptor
August 22 through September 1, 2008 – Located in Ag Hall
Presented by the Dairy Council, Jim Victor sculpted a design out of 250 pounds of cheese. While guests were in Ag Hall seeing Jim’s creation, many children stopped by to milk the fiberglass milking cow.
Moo-Mania Comedy Show
August 22 through September 1, 2008 – Strolling the fairgrounds
Presented by Robert's Dairy, Moo-Mania is America’s favorite from-the-farm comedy show. Farmer Earl entertained and educated with plenty of laughs, magic, and ventriloquism. Guests met Hershey the Cow, learned the “secret” behind condensed milk, and were amused by Ed, The World’s Smallest Farmhand.

Pirates of the Caribbean
August 22 through September 1, 2008 – Located in Kidz Zone
The Pirates of the Caribbean was a world class diving mixed with comedy, music and breathtaking thrills.
Sandscapes Sand Sculpture
August 22 through September 1, 2008 – Located in Marketplace North
State Fair guests watched a team of designers build a unique sand sculptures before their eyes.
U.S. Cellular “The Call Is Yours” Mobile Tour
August 22 through August 24, 2008 – Located south of the Coliseum
Presented by U.S. Cellular, guests printed their favorite camera phone pictures on-site, participated in speed texting competitions, and took part in the ring-tone competition.
Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall
August 22 through September 1, 2008 – Located on northeast lawn of Devaney
Presented by the 1868 Foundation, the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall stood as a reminder of the great sacrifices made during the Vietnam War. The Wall stood six feet tall at the center and covered almost 200 feet from end to end. Computers were available where an attendee could look up a name and be directed to where that name appeared on the wall.
Washboard Willy and Wishboard Wanda 
August 22 through September 1, 2008 – Strolling the fairgrounds
Washboard Willy and Wishboard Wanda joined talents to bring Willy’s Washboard Jamboree with a mission of bringing musical and educational entertainment.
Windstream Green Truck Tour
August 22 through August 24, 2008 – Located on the northeast lawn of Devaney
Windstream’s Green Truck Tour offered games with prizes as well as provided information about Windstream’s products and services. The Green Truck is an advertising icon for Windstream Communications, appearing in the company’s commercials and marketing initiatives. It is a 1953 vintage model green pickup truck adorned with yellow and orange flame decals to promote the launch of Windstream’s fastest broadband internet speeds up to 12 Mbps. |
