The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall
The Nebraska State Fair 1868 Foundation is proud to have raised funds from private donations to bring the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall to the 2008 Nebraska State Fair. "We consider it an honor to have brought this exhibit not only to the Fair, but also to the community and this great State." said Lindsey Koepke, Executive Director of the Nebraska State Fair 1868 Foundation.
During the 2008 Nebraska State Fair 309,137 attendees had the opportunity to experience the Wall and were able to pay respect to loved ones, friends and family. The 1868 Foundation would like to thank both the private donors who made this experience possible and those
who spent their time volunteering and staffing the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall.
History of the Vietnam
Traveling Memorial Wall
The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall was made for the purpose of helping to heal and rekindle friendships and to allow people the opportunity to visit loved ones in their home town who otherwise may not be able to make the trip to Washington. The Wall stands as a reminder of the great sacrifices made during the Vietnam War.
The Wall stands six feet tall at the center and covers almost 200 feet from end to end. Computers will be available where an attendee can look up a name and be directed to where that name appears on the wall. Join us on the north lawn of the Devaney Sports Center throughout the 11-day run of the 2008 Nebraska State Fair to visit the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall.
A great big thank you to all of those who spent their time volunteering with the Vietnam Traveling Wall at the 2008 Nebraska State Fair. Additional Projects Funded by the 1868 Foundation
In June of 2007, this gazebo was constructed in the Arboretum Gardens at State Fair Park by funds that were generated in early spring of 2007. Thank you to all of you who made this gift to the Nebraska State Fair possible!
